After prayer and Scripture reading (Ps. 133), Bishop Barnes gave the welcome address. Next, he thanked the delegates for their involvement in a historical forum to consider the parameters of the latest move, which is a continuation of God’s kingdom work. Next, he expressed his concern for the future of the church and the hands to which it is entrusted. Finally, he applauded the solid Apostolic Heritage of each delegate who has a reliable foundation to build on and must have a strong-willed determination to uphold. To maintain this apostolic foundation, he feels God is dependent on us to lead in the paths of righteousness and contribute to its continuity.
Bishop Barnes asked the delegates to focus on the goals, listen to each other to develop a firm framework for the upstart and continuity of this new organization. The churches present, represented by their delegates, have worked together for many years and will continue to facilitate a strong functional organization. Finally, he asked the representatives to put forth suggestions for the name of the organization. Elder Levern Barnes gave the name Apostolic Faith Assemblies International. Although, after discussions on that name, there was an objection to the word ‘Assemblies,’ Bishop Mullings inserted the word ‘Ministries.’ The delegates voted in the new name APOSTOLIC FAITH MINISTRIES, INTERNATIONAL. Kudos to Elder Levern Barnes for naming the new organization.
Bishop Barnes listed the foundation churches of Apostolic Faith Ministries International as follows:

WHAT WE BELIEVE:
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.
We believe in the Oneness of the Godhead. We believe that there is only one God manifested as Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and that Jesus, who represents the fullness of the Godhead bodily, was the Eternal Father made visible.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His atoning death and in His bodily resurrection.
We believe in Original Sin, the Fall of Man and that for the salvation of sinful men, one must be born again which includes genuine repentance, water baptism, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
We believe in baptism by immersion in the Name, Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the observance of Communion or The Lord’s Supper as a sacrament and in the observance of Foot Washing as an ordinance.
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, with speaking in tongues as the evidence of that baptism.
We believe in justification by faith, repentance and holy living through sanctification. We believe in Divine Healing.
We believe in the Second Coming of Christ and in His Millennial Reign.
We believe in The Final Judgment and the creation of a New Heaven and a New Earth.
We believe in the Resurrection of the Dead; in the Rapture of the Church.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
